Diamond - Shapes

 

Diamonds come in a variety of shapes. Do not confuse cut with shape, cut is what determines how well-cut your diamond is, where as diamond shape is the shape it was cut into.

Round Brilliant - Do not confuse with round. The round brilliant is the modern version of the round which has been refined for maximum shine. The round brilliant is by far the most popular and has the best angles for which to shine maximum brilliance.

 

Oval - Not as popular for solitaires, but very popular for three stone anniversary rings, with two matching diamonds on the sides.


Princess - A square cut diamond that has refractive properties almost near round brilliant. The princess is the preferred square cut shape over radiant.
 
Emerald - A more traditional shape, the emerald is not as popular as it used as it once was, but has an old world elegance to it.

 

Radiant - Popular before the princess shape was around, the radiant has more facets than a princess, but has the corners trimmed like the emerald shape. This shape is not widely popular.

 

Heart - Hard to find due to low demand, but some people prefer a heart shape diamond for sentimental purposes.

 

Marquise - Like the emerald, the marquise is a traditional shape. This is probably the fourth most popular shape behind the round, princess and oval.

 

Pear - Mostly used in pendants, the pear shape diamond is shaped in a tear drop shape and has fairly good proportions to refract light well.

 

Baguette - A translucent piece of diamond that has been cut and polished and is valued as an expensive gem. Diamond is forever is the words leading gem. It is hard crystalline very hard, finely faceted that is brilliant and gleaming all the time. They are valued high because it is difficult to produce a faceted diamond and it glitters more after it is cut to give facets, it shines brilliantly. It is said that diamonds are the best friends and is the birthstone for the people born in April. Though it is a crystalline found underneath earth it is very hard by nature.

 

Tapper - This diamond cut is called so because it is slightly tapered towards the end. This results in beautiful facets on the diamond that generate a lot of brilliancy. This cut is made from a straight baguette that is rectangular in shape. Hence the only difference between a baguette and a taper cut is the tapered look which is acquired from polishing its bottom.

Triangle - A fine quality of brilliant cuts of diamonds finely faceted with beautifully cuts and polished to get rid of any rough marks on it, the best way to buy this brilliance is in bulk. You have got a better option where you get all types of cuts from round, princess to all types of fancy cuts in all sizes. The other precious stone is gemstones. The second way to access your jewelry collection is by including a range of gemstone ornament. They include ruby, all types of sapphires, emerald and even diamond. Nowadays gemstone jewelry is widely used as proving a style statement. Both diamond and gemstones are precious but looks fabulous.
